As part of our inspections, we attempt to lift all accessible inspection chamber covers. The purpose of this allows our Surveyors to assess the age of the drainage, its condition and direction of flow.
During a recent inspection in Swindon, our Surveyor found the inspection chamber nearest the soil vent pipe (SVP) to be completely full of wet wipes causing a blockage. As a homeowner, it is important to keep an eye on your services to ensure that they do not become blocked which may lead to a potentially unpleasant failure! Fortunately, this blockage was brought to the attention of the Vendor.
The National Association of Drainage Contractors recommend that drains are inspected via CCTV prior to purchase, a recommendation of which we echo in all our reports. More information is available at http://www.nadc.org.uk
