Tetbury Terrace

12/12/17

We were asked to improve the space and light to the ground floor of a Grade II listed town house in the heart of Tetbury.

We took the project through Planning and Listed Building Consent and worked closely with the client and contractor through to completion of the works to create a light and airy, oak framed kitchen/diner extension.

We also undertook internal alterations and modernised the fixtures and fittings, as well as reworking the upstairs layout to facilitate a more spacious landing and relocation of the bathroom.

Our architectural team worked closely with the local specialist joinery workshop to get the detailing of the oak framed extension just right.

We also overcame the structural challenges of the construction, managed the requirements of the Conservation Officer, and ensured the final finish met our exacting standards.

"Thanks to the team from James Slater & Co, we have achieved our ambition of a sympathetic and practical development of a slightly tired listed cottage in a restricted position into a delightful and comfortable home, maximising the limited space available.

Inevitably, such a complex and sensitive project was going to require vision and imagination. It was also bound to have its setbacks but, importantly, these were always handled in a positive, 'can-do’ manner - helped, to no small extent, by the excellent building firm that James Slaters & Co identified and appointed.

We are delighted with the end-product which achieved, and in many respects, exceeded our objectives."
